Blind Woman To Throw Out Pitch At Giants Game SAN FRANCISCO We've all seen
first pitches, they've got to be nerve racking. But now close your eyes and
imagine doing it in the dark. That's what one local woman will be doing
tomorrow night.
Karen Parsegian laughs and smiles when she listens to her e-mail. You see,
the San Francisco Giants have invited her to throw out the first pitch at
tomorrow night's game.
"I was like am I out of my mind, I haven't played softball in 14 years,"
she says.
Not only that, but she's blind too. She lost her eyesight four years ago.
She can't see a thing.
"It's completely black, except you guys you look fabulous. That's the great
thing, when I meet men. They got to get to look exactly like what I want
them to look like," she says.
As you can tell she has not lost her sense of humor and her pitching is
pretty good too. Beside her tomorrow night will be her 10 year old nieces.
She's really doing this for them.
"I want to be able to show them that life is going to throw you curve balls.
You can either curl up on the nice leather couch, and this is a nice leather
couch and just tell the rest of the world to go away or you can call the
Giants and ask if you can throw out the first pitch," she says.
She says she's nervous, but very excited.
"There's no earthly good reason. I'm doing this. I'm overweight, middle aged
and oh yeah. I'm blind. It's amazing, a miracle. It's a dream," she says.
